That’s right, Erik finally nailed down a release date. February first will be the day that The Calendar of Doom hits the streets. It will available at Floating World Comics. The owner of the building happens to be so cool that there is public space open to distribute. I also might have enough time to update the website with some art work. I’m not setting that in stone just yet, but I’m sure something is bound to happen. Keep checking back because it’s only getting better.

It has been a while since the last Calendar of Doom posting and there has been a lot of changes. First and foremost I have asked some extremely talented individual to take ownership of a month to call their own. So far we have Brandon Kitajchuk, Donovan Willteo, Megan Saxton, Brian Eyler, Willyum Beck, Jen McClure, Katie Peterson, Nestor Pena, and several others. I’m extremely honored to have these names on the bill and I can’t wait to see what happens.

The Home Stretch

I’m completely burnt out from this term and after this weekend it’s starting to become more apparent. This weekend was a extremely productive and resulted in me getting a final project knocked right out of the box. Which feels damn good. The project was to create a five page web site. If you would like to see click the link. It was a really cool experience to get my first real site up and it could look way worse than it does. One of the things that I take from this term is this: As a Designer learning how to make web sites I need to learn how to let go to some things. Don’t let go all together, but learn how to loosen your death grip on your design. Easier said than done, but I feel I have a great foundation built.

I’m not sure if I’m alone here, but I used to watch some pretty awesome cartoons. These were a huge inspiration for my old drawings as a kid, and responsible for who I am today.

I have pretty much all my frame work done for the Calendar of Doom website. I want to make some cool hover and visited states for my navigation and set up a nice submit form that is linked to my gmail account. After that it will be all good to go, and I should get an A on the final project. Yay for the web! Calendar of Doom is the Shit!

So being the creator of the of the calendar can be pretty crazy sometimes. Last night I thought I lost my phone so I back tracked my steps all the way across town. I didn’t find my phone where I was hoping. I then thought it could have fallen out on the street so I did my best to beer scan my path. No luck. But at this point I wasn’t going to let it ruin my night. I actually did some karaoke in it’s wake, and was starting to enjoy the idea of not having a phone and only being able to talk to people through the internet. Now that I think of it, things would be strikingly similar. But I gave into the losses that life throws at you, and if it needed to take my piece of crap LG rumor, I wasn’t going to get all worked up. By the nights end I made it home without crashing and upon taking of my huge jacket I found my phone in a in my sweatshirt. That’s just how things go sometimes.

It’s been a good day for my calendar according to social media. I’ve received some positive design feedback from the splash page that’s currently up at calendarofdoom.com. I have people I’ve never even met tell me their glad I’m doing this project, which great to hear. Thank you to anyone who checked out my pages today, buckle down because it’s only started to rock peoples poor little socks.

The Web Site is up!

That’s right dude! The web site is up and still under construction for the next couple of days! I’ve been learning a lot about the web from getting this site up. For those of you who are wondering what the hell the Calendar of Doom is, it’s a calendar that is created by yours truly. I’m doing most of it because my doodles make me laugh and I get a kick out of confusing people. Anyway, I’m having people submit their invented holidays to my calender. I’m going to be releasing my minions of annual organization in January. I’m not sure how this is going to go down so I haven’t nailed down a date. Word! Keep checkin my shit!

Invent a kickass holiday

Does societies default holidays have you stressed and depressed? Well that’s how the man designed them. To make a broke alcoholic out of you and your family. Well screw that, it’s time to bite back with some holidays that are fun and have nothing to do with religion. (about freaking time, I know) I want you to think of a cool holiday that is totally off the wall and email me your holiday’s date and description. If you do this I will put it into my amazingly badass calendar of epic proportion that is coming out this January (for free too!), and credit you for your vision. The only thing I ask is that you only submit only one holiday. If you have two or three idea’s and can’t decide on one I will make the decision for you. I think it’s only fair to have one awesome holiday and not 2+. That song has been played out by Jesus and no disrespect but I’m tired of it. Word is Born.

Okay. So this is going to sound crazy and I’m ok with that. I am making a calendar for 2010 and I will be fabricating a couple of holidays in of my own invention. I invite my social media community to think of their own invented holidays. When its all said and done I will put the holidays into my awesome calendar of epic proportion. Sound good?
